Prior to Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to ensure Quad County Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery can serve you and other patients as safely and efficiently as possible. We use state-of-the-art anesthesia equipment and proper sedation for our patients.

Please follow these guidelines prior to your sedation appointment:
  • Do not eat or drink (including water) for eight hours prior to your appointment.
  • Do not smoke at least 12 hours before your surgery. Ideally, cut down or stop smoking as soon as possible prior to the day of surgery. It is also highly recommended that you do not smoke after surgery as it delays the healing process.
  • Have a responsible adult accompany you to the office, remain in the office during your procedure, and drive you home.
  • You should not drive a vehicle, operate machinery, care for small children, or make important decisions for 24 hours following the anesthesia experience.
  • Wear loose fitting clothing with sleeves that can be rolled up past the elbow and low heeled shoes to your appointment.
  • Contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures must be removed during the surgery.
  • Do not wear lipstick, perfume, excessive makeup, or nail polish the day of your surgery.
  • If you are currently sick with a cold, sore throat, or stomach or upset bowel, please notify the office.
  • If you take routine oral medications, please check with your doctor for instructions.
